Worthwhile Things to do in Korea

Some nice places I’d recommend you to visit in Seoul are Insa-dong area and Yeouido.

Firstly, I’ll introduce the Insa-dong area. Here is a map of the area. (Sorry if it is in Korean.^^ )

In Insa-dong, there are a lot of interesting places and things such as a shop selling antique stuff, a traditional teahouse, galleries, and old palaces. There are traditional performances that take place, too!

Insa-dong Street is really famous to many foreigners, so you will be able to see a lot of international residents and tourists there. I went there one time to do an interview with some foreigners. Most of them said Insa-dong’s attraction is a combination of old and new.

In addition, there are various tourist spots nearby, such as Gwanghwamun, Unhyeongung, Jogyesa, Samchung-dong, Hanok village in Bukchon, and the Cheonggye Stream. The distance between each place is just about ten to twenty minutes on foot. You can sightsee all of these places within a day! I believe you will like these places. If you haven’t been there yet, please try to visit. You can get there by subway. You can take off from Line 5 Gwanghwamun Station, Line 1 Jonggak Station and Lines 1/3/5 Jongno 3(sam)-ga Station to get to the area.

The second place I’ll introduce to you is Yeouido. It is my favorite spot. There are two parks which you can visit: the Han-gang Park and Yeouido Park. I usually ride a bicycle around the park. There are several bicycle rental centers, so you can rent one easily. Also, the rental fee is inexpensive – 1000won for one hour. By riding the bicycle, you can roam around both parks easily. I recommend you to do bicycling along the banks of the Han-gang. The river is beautiful day and night. The nightscape is especially amazing! Furthermore, in the spring, there are many cherry blossoms in Yeouido. Yunjung-no, a stretch of road near the National Assembly in Yeouido, is very famous for cherry blossoms! They usually bloom in April. The flowers are amazing too during spring time. Why don’t you go there this weekend? You can get there by taking the subway—Line 5 Yeouinaru Station. Hope you’ll like it!
