GEO 6's Final Battle between Teams

The Drama Contest, the last activity of GEO 6 Summer Camp 2010, was held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Conference Hall (IH366). The five GEO teams battle out for the huge points at stake which might make or break their desire to become the next GEO Summer Camp team champion. The following teams have poured tremendous time and effort for this last yet most important activity.  Definitely, anyone who watched their presentations can infer that everyone has improved their confidence in speaking English as they sang, danced, and acted at the same time!

First up was Team Canada with their Drama entitled "SIMVATAR".  It was their own version of AVATAR with an evil frog lord.  A lot of twists were seen in the drama; and in the end, the protagonist finally achieved what he wanted (a set of eyes).  However, due to a lot of Yellow Cards given by the GEO TA (Glenn) the protagonist only gained just one eye.

Next was Team New Zealand with their story about Global Warming.  With the creatures of the earth getting inconvenienced by the heat, they prayed to God who was sleeping at that time.  To resolve the problem, they made a trial between the plants and animals against the humans which ended up quite chaotic since the creatures ended up attacking the human student (representative).  In the end, it all turned out to be a dream and the student finally realized man's wrong doings and started to live her life being more conscious to her environment.

After an hour's break, Team Ireland presented the crowd with their story behind Shrek and Donkey's marriage with their beloved wives.  "We Are Married" showed the complexities of marriage life as one person changes in time (Shrek and Fiona) and as differences start to get in the way of their relationship (Donkey and Dragon).  The drama emphasizes the importance of communication between two people and a love that never fades no matter what changes may come.

Finally, Team Australia rendered their original drama presentation about a guy who entered the GEO program just because his girlfriend dumped him due to his inability to speak English.  With a broken heart and determination to learn English, he came across a couple of women and made affairs with them; eventually becoming a playboy.  The story reached its climax when all the girls realized his true colors and beat him up then, his ex-girlfriend shows up to save him.  However, there was a twist at the ending when it was shown that all that had happened was just a dream and the guy had the chance to change what had yet to come.

All the teams presented wonderful and creative plays that the audience enjoyed.  However, as all competitions, only one will rise as the winner.  Who will achieve first prize in this final battle for the GEO Cup?  And which team will be the GEO Cup Winner?  All these will be revealed in GEO 6's Closing Ceremony...
