PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The
Global English Outreach (GEO) Program is a multidimensional course of study
which is committed to improving learners’ English proficiency and providing a
unique social and cultural experience. Our goal is to offer students
challenging instruction that aims to develop communicative competence in a
stimulating and natural manner.
The GEO Program takes place year round at Catholic
University’s International Hub and is designed to
promote inbound internationalization, developing learners’
English-speaking abilities without them having to go abroad. The Content-based classes focus on developing essential
communication skills using a textbook (Cutting Edge), while the
Conversation classes consists of
integrated skills and functions organized around themes of interest to the
class, with a strong emphasis on discussion, presentations and interactive
debate on various social issues.
Global
English Outreach (GEO) 프로그램은 학습자의 영어실력을 향상시키고 학습자에게 특별한 사회·문화적경험을 제공해 주는 통합학습과정입니다. 본 프로그램의 수업목표는 학생들에게
활기차고 자연스러운 방식의의사 소통 능력을 개발할 수 있도록 도전 정신을 심어주는데 있습니다.
GEO 프로그램은 가톨릭대학교의 International Hub관에서 연중 계속 되며 학습자가 해외에 가지
않고도 영어 말하기 능력을 개발할 수 있는inbound
internationalization을
촉진 시키기 위하여 만들어졌습니다. 교과목구성은Content based와 Conversational Class로 구성되어있는데, Content Based Class는 교재(Cutting Edge)를 사용하여 기본적인 의사 소통 능력을 개발하는데
중점을 두고 있습니다. Conversational Class는
수업에 흥미를 느끼게 하는 주제들을 가지고 통합적 능력과 기능을 익힐 수 있도록 구성되어 있으며, 다양한 사회적 이슈들을 기반으로 토의, 발표, 토론을 강조합니다.
