Busy & Active Friday

Last July 9th, we went to a field trip in Insa-dong. Insa-dong is a good place where foreign people experience Korean culture and buy Korean traditional souvenirs. To us, it's a good place because we can meet many foreigners there. I think it is the best place for the GEO summer camp field trip. First, in the morning, we had to interview foreigners. Before asking questions we had to say "excuse me", but it was not easy. Starting a conversation with people who we met for the first time, especially foreigners, needed courage. After interviewing several foreigners, we finally had confidence.

Smiles after the interview!

While interviewing, asking questions and listening to their answers, we learned and felt many things. I especially like this mission because we can practice what we had learned from the classroom and apply it "in reality."

In the afternoon we got a new mission. The mission was to buy a Korean traditional item. We looked around many shops and enjoyed our shopping. Our team finished shopping early so we took a break and drank tea in a Korean traditional tea house. Sipping tea, we discussed our presentation on what we will do when we go back to the university. And while preparing a presentation, we realized that we had also gained a new experience there because these days Korea is too westernized.
Second mission: Picking out a souvenir

Hmmm...what should I buy???

After coming back to the university we took a rest and soon the Wine & Cheese party started. I was really excited to attend a party that I could only watch in a western movie or drama. Before the party started, it was really awkward to dress up nicely. But after the party begun, we really had fun thanks to the missions. Starting a conversation with people who we met for the first time was very difficult but thanks to the missions, I could approach other people easily. Today, we acquired many new and nice experiences.
