Day Travel Diary

Today
we went to Boston. It took three hours to get to the Science Museum. In the
museum they have many scientific inventions, human biological genes, brains,
and many other countries cultural aspects. Even though, it's a scientific
museum it has a lot of information that we didn't expect to have or practical
use in everyday situation.
Next we visited MIT. We met a Korean university student and he
introduced his school. His major is mathematics. He is a senior and plans to
come back to Korea after graduation. Normally we know MIT as a University of
engineering. However, engineering is the most famous among all majors, such as
music, art, business administration, and etc. In the library, students work on
their assignment by computer. We felt that library of MIT is more unrestricted
and liberating than normal library. There were a lot of sofas and students took
rest in sofa. Libraries in Korea mostly focus on studying, but Ivy League’s
library concentrates on both resting and studying.
After we visited MIT, we went to Harvard University. While we
visited Harvard University, there was heavy snow and rain. It was difficult to
travel. In Harvard, there were many places that are restricted for tourists to
enter and visit. So, we concentrated on listening to Korean university
student's explanation. She looked smart and kind. Her major is Physics and she
is a graduate student. She introduced classrooms and lab. Blackboards were very
innovative and unique because they were 4 stage boards that we had never seen
before. She explained that Harvard has many professional professors. Also, Harvard
gives them a lot of support. She was very proud of it. She receives scholarship
from the school, but she said school fee is really expensive. If the students
can't afford it, Harvard supports them to study. After we finished our trip, we
went to gift shop in front of Harvard. There were various gifts. We bought lots
of them.
After the visit, we went to the Cheesecake factory to eat dinner.
There were many people, so we had to wait for a long time. Foods in this
restaurant were really good, especially the cheesecakes. We tasted 12 different
kinds of cheesecakes. Each of them has their own special flavor. It was an
exhausting day, but was memorable.
