Because I Love Korean Field Trip

Last Saturday, November 13, a number of international students residing in the dormitory had a field trip to Yangpyeong. The trip, which serves as a Korean culture immersion activity, was organized by the Catholic University of Korea's (CUK) dormitory administrators as part of their Because I Love Korean (BILK) program. International students from China, the Philippines and Vietnam participated in the field trip. The itinerary for that day included a visit to the Literature Museum, a stroll in the Park named after Hwang Sun-won, and a walk inside the Dr. Park's Gallery.

NEXT STOP: A park named after Hwang Sun-won, writer of "Rain Shower" or "Sonagi" (소나기). Hwang Sun-won wrote the short story in 1959. Literally, sonagi is a brief but a heavy rain shower that suddenly comes down usually on a hot afternoon. In Hwang’s story, the rain shower symbolizes the short but heartfelt love between the male and female protagonist. The story begins with the boy seeing the girl play by the stream on his way back home.

Huts around the park.

Guess who's inside the hut???

'Leaves no more... ' Fall season soon to be over.

Winter season here it comes.

WHAT'S FOR LUNCH??? Delicious 뼈해장국 ( Bbyo haejangguk). Haejangguk refers to all kinds of guk (soup) eaten as a hangover cure in Korean cuisine. It means "soup to chase a hangover" and also called sulguk (술국) in pure Korean.

FINAL STOP: Dr Park Gallery located in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do.

The Gallery is the setting for Eun So-Hyeon's gallery in the series - Queen of Housewives.
