My First CUK Student Festival Experience

Student festival lasted for two days from May 18th to 19th. There were a lot of activities from afternoon to dawn. In the afternoon, there were activities without alcohol like the phantom house and Global English Outreach (GEO) student festival activities. At 6pm, non-alcohol activities like those mentioned above ended. But Korean-style bars were opened in the soccer field. In addition, a lot of performances and events were held on the stage (located in the soccer field) as well.

I participated in the university festival through my student club, as both supplier and consumer. My student club Courtlang, which is a tennis club in Catholic University of Korea (CUK), held a campus tennis tournament. A lot of seniors in my club and professors took part in the championship, but I don't have to join because I’m good at tennis already. I just watched the games and assisted peers during the tournament process.

During the duration of the festival, I also participated in GEO student festival activities held at the first floor of the International Hub (IH) building. In addition, I had an opportunity to visit female dormitory, thanks to the ‘Open House’ event. I discovered some interesting things. Female dormitory was more fragrant than male dormitory, but I thought that the structure and the facilities of male dormitory were better than the female dormitory. Exploring the

I also went to Liberta, the sky lounge (restaurant) located at the 16th floor of the IH building , with club members after Courtlang campus tennis tournament. There was a party for International House students and their friends. Because I participated in that event late, I missed many activities. I stayed there for a long time with an expectation to win great prizes, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to get any prize.

After that, I went to the Korean-style bar that was set up in the soccer field. There were some friends, so I drank with them until 12am. Also, I had chance to drink all night with tennis club members in our club tent. Regrettably, I had homework to submit the following morning, so I had to come back to dormitory to do my school work.

During the second day, I slept a lot. I took a nap in the afternoon until about seven in the evening. I was too tired because I stayed up all night to do my assignment. But as soon as I got up, I went to the field to watch singers’ performances. After that, I drank again with tennis club members at a bar, and went to dancing club at the center field. I drank all night with club members at the real bar and dancing club. I went back to the dormitory at 5 a.m. next day, and slept all day.

I did a lot of fun things during my first festival in CUK. However, I think the festival period is too short. I think the festival days should be extended to about five days so students can do more activities and enjoy more things.
