Fun & Educational Night during GEO 9 Country Quiz

Students from class 2-1 shared their country quiz experience.

Last January 24, we competed with other teams. We played country quiz. As participants of the game, we had to answer questions about other countries - India, Samoa, Botswana, and Singapore. We played in the Gymnasium. We started the quiz at 6:30pm and finished at around 8:00pm. - Sung-Jae from Team Ireland.

Z League teams anticipating the answer to the country question

I had a great time during the GEO country quiz. Jamaica got almost perfect scores!!! I was surprised, our team, Venezuela, got 4th place only. But it’s okay because we did our best. We had a fun time too. - Eun hyang from Team Venezuela.

Our team Venezuela participated in the country quiz together with other X League teams. We only got 4th place. I was so sad. It didn’t matter if the questions were easy or difficult because our team didn’t do very well. I'm so depressed that’s why after the quiz I ate ramyeon (Korean noodles) because of stress. –Bo Seub

Team Venezuela still in high spirits aiming to do better in the next team competition

The country quiz was a bad memory for me, because our team lost. I confess that we didn’t prepare that much because we had to practice a lot for the team drama. As team leader, I felt sorry for my teammates and my Professor Jerry. Through this experience, I realized that I have to work harder and exert more effort for the team drama to redeem Team New Zealand. - Min Keon

Team New Zealand's turn to ask questions for other teams to answer

I liked the country quiz time because our team won 3rd prize. Actually our team had little time to prepare for the team competition. But for me, our team score was not bad. :) But if we got 1st prize, it would be more impressive. Anyway that's okay. I like GEO and I really had a fun time. -Seol

During Z League's country quiz, our team won 5th place. I just couldn't believe that our team didn't win the game despite the fact that we won the last two games – sports night and speed quiz. Anyway, we felt so sad but we believe we are going to be okay. I am just looking forward to the team drama. We prepared so hard for the team drama that’s why I believe that even if we didn’t win the country quiz, we can still be the winner of GEO cup. –Lee Kang

It was amazing. Our team Jamaica almost got perfect scores!! We were very happy because our hard work paid off (Our team leader and members studied very hard for the country quiz.). We had only one wrong answer. The country quiz was indeed fun and educational night. I think we could be 1st place. Professor Roger and Jonathan encouraged us to do our best for our team. Go go go Team Jamaica!!! We got the POWER!!! -Hyun Jeong

Finally, it's Team Jamaica's turn to ask questions

Busy 3rd Week in GEO 7

In this week, we had to do many things.

First, on Wednesday & Thursday we participated in the Presentation contest!
We prepared our contest for a week, and every team made an effort to give the best presentation. Wednesday was the presentation day of classes 2-1 and 2-2. Their topics were "Life in G.E.O." and "How to do something". They made a speech about "Going on a diet", "How to Propose"and "White day candy" and so on.  I think they had many good ideas about their topic. Their pronunciation was excellent, and they even performed well.

Group Presentation

Thursday was Level 3-1, 4-1's presentation day. First, level three's topic were about their role model and the country that people should visit. The level 4's topic were "Can we make a difference?" and "If I were the president of CUK". In my case especially, I expected so much on that day, because I like to give a presentation about something. My team's topic was "Can we make a difference for the world?". In my part I told about Nuclear energy and Stem Cell. The topic was a bit serious. However, it was interesting because I posted many interesting video clips. Eventually, the audiences concentrated on my presentation, but we won the third prize. Although we were disappointed, I was satisfied with our presentation because we did our best.

"Can We Make a Difference for our World?"

On Wednesday August 11th, we had the 4th team competition. It was the Country Quiz! The procedure of the game was to prepare fifteen multiple-choice questions of their own team and to study about other teams in advance. In our team's case, New Zealand, each person made three questions and then gathered them and chose the best fifteen. All students chose one answer among A, B or C. It was similar to O.X quiz. The students who answered all questions correctly and survived for the last round got points for their team. We prepared questions about each country's capital, famous city, highest mountain, famous people and so on.
In the competition, our team New Zealand won the 1st prize.

Aside from the team rank, I believe it was a precious time where we had the opportunity to study about different countries.

Country Quiz: How much do you know about your opponent's country?

 Let's start the Country Quiz!
Our beautiful TA, Jinju, prepared it for us ^_^

Last Wednesday (July 14), we held our Country Quiz activity at the conference hall. Each team prepared twenty multiple-choice questions on the country of their Team in advance. All students chose one answer among A, B or C. Finally, the students who answered all questions correctly and survived get points for their team. However, even though we failed before the final round, we didn't have to be disappointed because the TAs came up with consolation matches. Students get the chance to enter the game once again through various games. For example, we did the Korean game 3, 6, 9.
The 3, 6, 9 game starts!
3, 6, 9 game finalists:  Hyejin and Yongbae

We did this game in English version. Three, Six, Nine! Three, Six, Nine! Game representatives were so confused because this game needed the ability to react instantly and the cleverness in mathematics. Following the result of the consolation matches, each team were able to revive a number of their group mates and then we continued the game.

Australia team members listened to the rules of the game
Smile please...Yosep, Areum, JK!

Team New Zealand: Yujin and Jae Sung

Dong Bin from Team Ireland
The 1st prize winner of Country Quiz was Team U.S.A. The 2nd place was shared by Ireland and New Zealand while the 3rd and 4th place went to Canada and Australia respectively.  Over all, we had a good time in Country Quiz and we also got useful information from the nations.

You don't know the answer of this question? Then SEPARATE!

The TAs are ready to stop anyone from transferring after the count of 10
These students are the representatives of each team.
They look a little nervous, don't they?
Team Australia's quiz was very difficult!  All teams didn't survive after 5 questions.

Team Australia got the lowest place but everybody was still smiling!
Scores?  It doesn't matter!
Team New Zealand was in 2nd place.  Wow!
