Last September 6, 2013, the Global English
Outreach program of the Catholic University of Korea officially opened its
doors to the GEO Intensive 25 students. This semester, 180 students have
enrolled in the program to practice and develop their English skills.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Yerim
Lee, the Korean TA (KTA) Captain and Raphy Acabado, the International TA (ITA)
Captain. They introduced what the whole GEO program was all about and presented
the professors for each class, as well. For this fall semester, GEO has 8 KTAs
and 26 ITAs, including 12 new TAs from the Philippines, Pakistan, Indonesia,
and the United States. So aside from welcoming new GEO students, the opening
ceremony also served as the debut of the new teaching assistants who will
surely be making their own fond memories of GEO, CUK, and South Korea.
In addition, the clubs for the students
were also announced. Among them were, Darts Club by Professor Nigel, Health and
Diet Club by Professor Stephen, Movie Club by Professor Taryn, Drama Club by
Professor Nick, Idea Club by Professor Tony, and many more. As for those who
are interested to write and maybe contribute to the blog, there is also
Journalism club where Professor Nelis will help students in their English
writing Skills.
GEO classes begin this week and we are all
very excited! So as we begin a new
semester this Fall season, we are looking forward to new experiences and new
friendships here at GEO! Fighting!
