I am very glad, my small island has gained an enormous victory in the history by bringing T20 Cricket World Cup 2014 held at Bangladesh. Actually, I want to introduce what is cricket for my lovely readers who don’t know the sport. It is a world recognize sport, played by two team with ten players in each and need to hit the ball and take runs during a certain ball periods (Sounds baseball right? But it is completely different).
This time world cup was hosted in Bangladesh. Meanwhile leading countries like Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, India and etc. participated the tournament. Among them Sri Lanka played five games and made few historical records by assuring the victory. Semifinal was played against South Africa. Then, the Sri Lankan team final played against the defending champion India. After 18 years, we gained and brought back the title to our country. My country is very small in map, therefore sometimes some people even don’t heard, but now I am pretty sure they will talk about us. However, each word cup we were able to come final and always fail to win the last game, but this time, we made it.
Today, my citizen appreciate the balling and batting attack of the team which declare the success. I don’t think this is a lucky chance, but it is the result of our men hard work and sacrifice to get the cup. We can keep this for the next four years and we wish that they can get the back-to-back champion.
