Class Blog: Group Presentation Contest

I had a Group presentation contest last January 23th, 2015 in the GEO Winter Camp. It was my most difficult task during the GEO Winter Camp. That time I had difficulty talking in English. And actually I hated presentation and tried to avoid it if possible. I was too anxious about the presentation. It was definitely a challenge for me. But I could find confidence because professors and TAs helped me and my team members supported each other every time we met. Our good relationship led us to cooperate well. I did not want to become a trouble maker in our team. Then, I decided to do practice over and over. I tried to memorize all my script but I did not have a good memory. So I used a Q-card during presentation but I could be natural because I had lots of practice.

Our team practiced together more over 20 times to conquer fear. Before the day of the presentation contest, we had practiced until 1 a.m. We couldn’t get enough sleep but that was not the problem for us. Because we knew practice made us strong. Through the practice we could do our presentation without any mistakes. Our team did our best. After the presentation I was proud of myself and felt really thanks to our team members. Preparing the presentation was not easy but it improves our English speaking skill. That is why we are studying English. Group presentation contest was very helpful for me and our team members.
I am going to take GEO2 again in Spring. I heard that in GEO2, there will be a presentation too. I will concentrate and do better with that. With this presentation practice I am certain that I can understand and speak English more easily. Thanks to GEO Winter Camp, I could regain confidence and positive thinking.
