GEO 5 Closing Ceremony

June 10, 2010

Finally, the GEO Spring Semester has been successfully concluded with lots of things left behind.

During the Spring Semester, we started a new activity called English in Action Program (a.k.a. E.i.A. Program) which includes Conversation Club, O.B.F. Visits and Social Activity(1,2 & 3). GEO Students should sign up and make reservations for the visitation or meeting on each of the activities. In the said activities, students will talk to the Filipino TAs and O.B.F. Masters. Through this program, students will experience talking with foreigners and this would help them to imporve their English speaking skills.

Prof. Nicolaas le Roux(GEO Director and ILEC Professor) gives students an inpirational speech while the students are listening attentively.

Professors, TAs and each Class Leaders come up to the stage and make a short speech.

Each Class leader come up to the stage and receive the certificates as a representative of his/her class. Students who won First Place in the Group Presentation Contest also received their certificate.

With all the Professors and TAs who worked for GEO 5 Spring Semester. They taught and worked hard for the whole semester!

We want all students who participated in the camp to keep speaking English and maintain communication with the Professors and TAs even though the camp has ended!
XOXO

Wine and Cheese Party - GEO-style

On April 30, 2010, the Global English Outreach (GEO) program of the Catholic University of Korea hosted a Wine-and-Cheese Party for its students at the Global Lounge.

It is unclear when people started eating cheese while drinking wine. Wine was first produced as early as 8,000 years ago. Cheese was also first made at roughly the same time. People have been enjoying cheese with wine for centuries.

Nowadays, people all over the world ---from Europe to the Americas to the Middle East to Asia--- serve wine and cheese at parties for the simple reason that it is easy to put together with a minimum of work. That a wine-and-cheese party is easy to put together does not take away from the fact that people genuinely enjoy drinking wine and eating cheese together. Furthermore, simplicity and elegance usually go together.

It was an opportunity for the professors, teaching assistants and the students to mingle socially...

or meet new friends...

or maybe just hang out with good friends...

to bridge the generational gap...

drink the wine, of course...

and eat the cheese (and other finger foods as well)...

take photos of friends having fun...

have lots of laughs...

and loads of fun...

That is what wine-and-cheese parties are all about!

Come join us on May 7th and 14th for the next Wine-and-Cheese Party!
