Students Happy and Thankful to experience the GEO 15 Sports Night

The 15th Global English Outreach (winter camp) Sports Night was held in the gym last January 11, 2012. It was divided into two leagues; for Z league it started at 6:00 P.M. and for X league it started at 7:30 P.M. Teams in X league were Jamaica, Kenya, Tuvalu, and Seychelles.

The first event was the hula-hoop pass. Each team member held each others’ hands together in a circle and passed through the hula-hoop continuously without letting the hands go. The next event was Musical Chairs. Three members from each team came out and put books on their heads without touching them. Then they had to walk around the chairs while the music was playing and sit when the music stopped. If the player dropped the book or didn’t get a chair to sit on, that person was out. The third event was ‘Ball Boy Bowling’. Every team member had to participate. There were four goals in which a ball had to go through in order to score. The last event was basketball. Two members from each team had three chances to shoot the ball into the hoop. In X league team Seychelles won the Sports Night with 95 points. Team Jamaica placed second, team Kenya third, and sadly team Tuvalu placed last.

Team captain of team Seychelles (Jung Yoon Jee, from Psychology dept. 20) was very happy and proud of her team because her team won the game. The members from the other teams were very depressed and angry because the scoring systems seem not fair to them.

For the Z league, team South Africa won musical chairs but there were too much wind from the fan so it was difficult to keep the books on their heads. After the musical chairs, they played the hula-hoop game. Each team made their own strategies and did their best. All of the students seemed to enjoy the game. Ball Boy bowling game was really fun. South Africa got 13 points, and Belize got 10 points, so South Africa won first place! South Africa won every game. But there were not much time to play the basketball game because games were delayed unexpectedly So, some individuals felt disappointed that their members could not join the basketball game. Also, some think it was unfair that they could get only small number of points from that game. While people were playing games, most of the students had smiles on their faces and it was a good opportunity to know each other well and to get closer.

Surely, students were very happy and thankful to the organizers of this event and to the whole GEO family. Thank you for making this event.
