This first week, Grace and I met our students. I am so pleased with their attitude. They are incredibly sweet and very willing to do this extra work. Honestly, I feel that the students are dealing with too much load. Even though it is only a month long program I cannot believe that they have school from 9 in the morning to 8 in the evening! Anyways, because they are always tired, I will try my best to meet with them at the most convenient time possible. I do not want them to have to do any extra work. Some of the students were telling me the first day I met them that they always feel so sleepy. Regardless, the students are so nice and wonderful. They are enthusiastic and pleasant. They were a little shy about their English skills, but I must say most of them speak very well. Sometimes they don’t understand me well, but for the most part they do understand.
I do have to speak slowly for them, however. I try to keep that in mind when I talk because sometimes I start talking fast and I can see when they lose me. I already took my first batch of students out for lunch. They took me to a dukbokki place. They were very sweet in making sure there was no pork in the meal. I don't eat pork because of my dietary restriction. We spent almost 2 hours together. Although we met at 12pm, went out for lunch towards 12 40 because we were trying to fix our schedules about the time of our meeting. I enjoyed the time with the first batch of students. My next batch of students will be meeting on Monday. I am excited because I really like getting to know more Korean friends!
