Dear 32 year-old me...

Dear 32 year-old Jin-seon,

Hi! Jin-seon. I feel kind of shy and awkward to write a letter to you. I wonder how you will be living. What is your job? I think it would be related to tax and finance. Because the 22-year-old of you is now studying tax and accounting very hard! Surely, you have your license of tax accountant, how about being a CPA? I hope you have all of the licenses. :) I wonder where do you work now. At your own office,  accounting firm, or the tax office? Wherever you work at, I think you would do well . And I want you to continue the hobby of drawing. No matter how busy you are, Keep drawing. I think enjoying your work and hobby is better than just focusing on your work.

I think I would get married when in my 30's. How about you? Did you get married? Do you have any children? I can't imagine that you are a mother of someone. If you have a child, I hope you'll be a good mom (Like our mother :) ) I know it is hard to be a good mom and productive worker, but I think the two characters are not mutually exclusive. You can do it!

My family has 5 members including me. Since I live with my grandmother fortunately we don’t have to endure the rush hour for going down to my hometown. So honestly my family can’t represent Korean traditional family, but we have our own way to celebrate Chuseok.

My life for the past 9 months in Korea has been wonderful. Making new friends, visiting interesting places, trying Korean authentic cuisines and street snacks, and having fun with new experiences. Only one thing that bother me the most (besides missing my family and friends) which is I am badly craving for Indonesian food. First of all, Korean and Indonesian foods are like the north and south poles. They use certain spices, methods of cooking and has totally different taste.

Indonesian food might not be as globalized as Japanese or Western food so it is kind of a challenge to find a good restaurant in another country. Together with this reason, I want to introduce my country food to all of you.

TA Blog: Ain’t it Fun, Now You Are One of Us

For those who have interest in western pop songs, you have probably heard of the song ‘I’m Into You’ by pop punk band Paramore. Here is another awesome song named ‘Ain’t It Fun’. This song was released last year (2013) and the cheerful music video was released at the end of January 2014. In the music video, the three members put their best effort to break the world records. Not just the song will give you energy, but the video is fun too. F.Y.I. (For your information) they broke 10 world records in the video!

The best part of the song is the lyrics. This three-minute song will make you think. ‘Ain’t It Fun’ is telling you to be independent. The vocal sings, ‘Ain’t it fun living in the real world, ain’t it good being all alone’. Unlike the melody, the lyrics are quite harsh. However, this song is very realistic. The band is talking about the attitude we need to have towards our lives.

Sometimes being alone is difficult. Not crying to your mama is difficult. However, remember that you are over 20 years old and by this time, you should be ready to be independent. The song is not telling you to be completely alone right now. You do not have to do everything that the song indicated, but be prepared and try to stand on your own. It will make you grow as a person. Keep listening to this catchy and cheerful song and sing along ‘Ain’t it fun’! Cast a spell on yourself to be on your own in the real world.
